DJ AMMA

Prior to joining Stiff-FM, Amma was making
history by becoming the first woman to DJ at the legendary
Ronnie Scott’s, and becoming the first woman to DJ for
Toots and the Maytals on more than one occasion, causing
mayhem on packed dance floors across the UK and Europe,
being followed by an entire film crew for the day for the fly
on the wall programme ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’ on Sky,
DJ’ing live for BBC Radio for Black History Month, DJ'ing
for the Gladdy Wax Sound System at the Notting Hill
Carnival (London Carnival) or supporting many acts including
Toots and the Maytals, Bad Manners, Kym Mazelle, Jive Aces,
The Rhythm Aces, Jurassic 5, No.1 Station, Extraordinaires,
9 Ton Peanut Smugglers, Tassel Club, Here Comes The Boys
and Paloma Faith etc – this busy lady always knows how to
draw a crowd.

She’s been called the ‘Queen of Music’, by those who
have seen her DJ’ing over the last few years. And after
many years of digging for tune’s ‘wherever’ and ‘however’,
this vinyl junkie has acquired a massive collection of
records, which includes a variety of well known tunes to
rare gems – which she is famous for playing. Her collection
includes Ska, Rocksteady, Northern Soul, Jazz, Rhythm &
Blues, Motown, Funk, High Life, Afro Funk, Black
Exploitation film sound tracks, Breaks and 60's Pop etc.

Some of the places Amma has previously DJ’ed includes
Ronnie Scott's (London), The Jazz Cafe (London),
O2 Academy (London), Stokefest Festival (London), Play Rooms
now Dolce (London), Dust Club (London), Cargo (London),
Yardbird Jazz Club (Birmingham), The Bar (Hanway St) London,
Poonana (Reading), 93 Feet East (London), The Honey Club
(Brighton), Caister Holiday Park (Great Yarmouth), The Mix Bar
(Winchester & Reading), Bartok (London), 11 Market Place
(London), Fez Club (Reading), The Fly (London), The Oakford
Social Club (Reading), Plug n Play (Reading), Sub89 (Reading),
The Pigalle Club (London) and Proud Cabaret (London) etc.

Dj Amma is always willing to spread her music anywhere and
everywhere - she doesn’t care, so long as she spreads the
food of love everywhere! So if you’ve got any gigs or festivals
you wish to book this femme fetal for don’t hesitate to get in
touch.
